Privacy policy

This policy explains which personal data mavielocale.ch processes, why, and what your rights are. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP, SR 235.1). Data are processed in Switzerland or with safeguards recognised by Switzerland.

1. Controllers

2. Data we do not collect

The site can be browsed without an account and without registration. It uses no cookies and no tracking technology that is not strictly necessary for its operation; there is therefore no consent banner. We use neither Google Analytics, nor advertising pixels, nor embedded social networks. We make no automated individual decisions (art. 21 FADP).

If you mark events as favourites (the heart on the cards), the list is stored in your browser only (local storage), so that you can find it again on the “My favourites” page. It contains nothing but event identifiers, is never sent to us and serves no other purpose. You can refuse it by not using the heart, and delete it at any time from the “My favourites” page or by clearing this site’s data in your browser (art. 45c of the Telecommunications Act, TCA).

3. Visitor data

  • Technical logs. When you visit the site, our host Cloudflare processes your IP address and your browser’s technical information in order to serve the pages and protect the site against attacks. Cloudflare keeps these data briefly under its own policy; we do not access them for identification purposes.
  • Audience measurement. We measure site traffic (page views, country, device type) with Cloudflare Web Analytics, a service of our host that uses no cookie, no identifier and no browser fingerprint; the statistics are aggregated and do not allow anyone to be identified. This processing takes place at Cloudflare, Inc. (United States, certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, see section 6). In accordance with art. 45c of the Swiss Telecommunications Act (TCA), we inform you of this measurement and its purpose, and you may refuse it: the measurement script is not loaded when your browser sends the “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal.
  • Contact. If you write to us, we keep your message and your address for as long as needed to handle your request, and for at most twelve months, unless there is a dispute.
  • Newsletter. [Section to be activated when a newsletter exists: voluntary sign-up, one-click unsubscribe in every mailing, named provider.]

4. Data on events and their organisers

mavielocale.ch automatically collects, from publicly accessible websites (municipalities, associations, venues, organisers), the essential information about public events: title, dates, venue, name of the organising body, category, price, address of the original page. As a rule this is information about organisations, not about persons. Where an event is published in the name of a natural person (for example an artist, a speaker or an individual organiser), that name may appear as published by the source: these are then data that the person has made generally accessible themselves, in connection with a public activity (art. 30 para. 3 and art. 31 para. 2 let. f FADP). We do not collect the e-mail addresses, telephone numbers or private contact details of contact persons; for these we refer to the source. Any personal contact details are deleted 90 days after the end of the event (art. 6 para. 4 FADP). Purpose: informing the public about local life. Basis: overriding public and private interest in information (art. 31 para. 1 FADP). You may object to this processing at any time (see section 8); we then remove the data concerning you within five working days. This policy constitutes the information required by art. 19 FADP for these indirectly collected data. An organiser or the person responsible for a website may at any time request correction, removal or the exclusion of their website, as described on the “Report or remove” page.

5. Data of advertisers and partners

Name, business contact details, invoicing: kept for the duration of the contractual relationship and then for ten years (accounting obligation, art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations, CO).

6. Recipients and processors; disclosure abroad

  • Cloudflare, Inc. (United States): hosting and delivery of the site. Cloudflare is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, recognised by the Swiss Federal Council as ensuring an adequate level of protection (decision of 14 August 2024, in force since 15 September 2024; art. 16 para. 1 FADP), and processes data on our behalf under its data processing agreement (art. 9 FADP).
  • Infomaniak Network SA (Switzerland): e-mail and domain name.
  • No data are sold or passed on to other third parties, except where required by law.

7. Security and retention

The site is served over HTTPS; data are limited to the minimum necessary (art. 7 and 8 FADP). Retention periods: see each section; past events remain viewable as archives without personal contact details.

8. Your rights

You may request: access to the data concerning you (art. 25 FADP), their rectification, their deletion or the prohibition of a processing operation (art. 32 FADP), and you may object to a processing operation (art. 30 para. 2 let. b FADP). Write to [email protected] or to the postal address above; we reply within thirty days, in principle free of charge. You may also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), Feldeggweg 1, 3003 Bern, www.edoeb.admin.ch.

9. Changes

This policy may be adapted; the dated version online prevails.
